Heavy Rain And Flooding To Impact Texas

Plenty of tropical moisture across southern, central and eastern Texas will lead to rounds of locally heavy showers and thunderstorms today through Wednesday. Most of Louisiana and southwestern Mississippi will also see periods of heavy rain.
A stalled front and an emerging area of low pressure coming out of northeastern Mexico will set the stage for rounds of showers and thunderstorms to develop across parts of southern, central and eastern Texas today through Wednesday. The plentiful tropical moisture in the region will likely lead to flooding concerns and the potential for travel delays. Remember to "Turn Around, Don't Drown!" if there is a flooded roadway.
Rain amounts of 2 to 4 inches will be likely for many areas, but local amounts up to 6 to 8 inches are possible today through Wednesday.
Flood Watches are in effect across much of southern, central and eastern Texas all the way into Louisiana and southwestern Mississippi. Cities under these watches include Houston, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Brownsville, Texas, Shreveport, Alexandria, and Baton Rouge La., and Jackson, Miss.
Make sure to know the difference between a watch and a warning should they be issued. A "watch" means that conditions are favorable for severe weather to occur, and to be on alert for any rapidly changing conditions. A "warning" means that severe weather is imminent, and you should act fast to remain safe.
